How To Make an Origami Tulip Flower

When I was in preschool that’s when I first learned how to make a origami tulip. My older sister taught me how to make origami tulip flowers. So today I want to share that fun artistic experience with you. So let’s get started.

Origami Tulip Tutorial

Tools and Materials:

Origami Craft Papers.
Colorful Construction Papers.
Scissors.
Ruler.Glue.
Pencil.

Origami Tulip Step by Step

Step 1:

To make the origami tulip first you need to take a square origami craft paper, Select an elegant flowery shade for your tulip. Place the paper diagonally on the surface.

Fold the origami craft paper diagonally in half creating a triangular shape.

Open the diagonal fold and again fold it in half, only this time fold it on the opposite side.

Step 2:

Open the diagonal fold and you will see the two diagonal folds created an “X” like creases on the origami craft paper,

Now fold the square origami craft paper vertically in half.

Open the fold.

Fold the origami craft paper again in half but only this you will fold it horizontally.

Step 3:

Open the horizontal fold and you will see the two creases you’ve created. These creases are our guidelines for making the origami tulip craft,

Take the two points of the origami craft paper and press them inward

Fold it along the creases we made so far from step 1 to step 2. To understand this process more clearly watch the video down below.

This will create a triangular shape.

Step 4:

Take the left top corner and bring it downwards along the middle crease on the folded origami craft paper.

Similarly, take the right top corner and bring it downwards along the vertical crease on the origami craft paper.

Flip the folded origami paper piece on the other side.

Similarly, fold the left and right top corners downwards and create a square shape.

Step 5:

Watch the video down below and fold the origami paper accordingly.

Now, fold the right side flap vertically along the middle crease on the origami craft paper piece.

Similarly, fold the left flap but keep it slightly over the vertical crease in the middle.

Insert the extended folded part inside the gap of the right folded part. You can apply glue on this area if you want.

Now turn the origami paper piece over to the other side.

Step 6:

Use a similar method to fold the left and right parts vertically along the crease in the middle and then put the extended flap inside the other flap.

Once you are done folding you will notice a small hole area in the bottom.

Blow some air through the hole to inflate the origami paper piece.

Sort out the origami paper tulip petals using your hands,

Step 7: Origami Tulip Flower and Stem

To make the origami tulip stem take a strip of green crafting paper.

Start rolling the green craft paper strip from one corner.

Roll the green craft paper strip into a stick shape. Apply glue at the end to secure the roll.

Insert the origami tulip step through the hole at the bottom of the origami tulip craft.

Step 8:

Use the PDF templates to cut out the leaves for the origami tulip flower craft,

Glue the leaves on the origami tulip flower craft stem.
